Requirements

In addition to the Devices App and a compatible Apple iPhone or iPad, the minimum requirement is one smart home device.

The app is supported by all Apple devices with iOS 12.0 or later:

Set up Devices

Most devices have been developed for self-installation. Simply install the device according to the instructions and then add it in the app.

Add Devices

Once the smart home device is operational, you can add it to the app. To do so, simply go to the “Devices” category, then tap on “Edit” at the top left corner and then select a room or create a new room in which you want the device to be listed. You can then assign a name and an icon to the device, which you can use to access it going forward. The device has now been added.

Setup Code

You can find the code in the operating instructions or on the casing of your smart home device. It consists of 8 digits and looks similar to this:

Rooms

Smart home devices are always assigned to a room.

Homes

You can use the app to manage multiple smart homes. To do so, go to the “Devices” category and then tap on the “Home” icon at the top right corner.

Set up AR

Follow these steps to set up the Augmented Reality feature:

1. Tap on the “Devices” category at the bottom left corner.
2. Tap on the “AR” option at the top.
3. Tap on the “Edit” button at the top left corner.
4. Move around slowly in your home, to scan your environment.
5. Move near a desired device and tap on the big “+” button.
6. Repeat step 5 for each following device.
7. Tap on the “Done” button at the top left corner.

Hide AR controllers

Follow these steps to hide controllers:

1. Tap on the “Edit” button at the top left corner.
2. Point the camera directly on the controller that you want to hide.
3. The large “+” button will change to an “x” button.
4. Tap on the big “x” button.

Recognize AR position

When you close and reopen the Devices app, ARKit will first have to recognize your location in the environment again. Slowly move around in previously recognized areas of your home. Sometimes it takes a little while before ARKit recognizes the location.

Reset AR

In case of problems with the AR feature, you can easily reset it to default by briefly shaking your iPhone or iPad. A question will appear, asking if you want to reset the AR data.

Remote Access

Using an Apple TV or an iPad, smart home devices can also be accessed when your iPhone or iPad is not connected to your local WiFi network. For mobile access while on the go, set up an Apple TV or an iPad and connect it with your Apple ID.

Share Control

Devices is only stored on your Apple iOS devices and your Apple iCloud account. Via Apple iCloud you can give trusted individuals access to your smart home. No one else can view or access your smart home.

Synchronization

Smart home devices can be controlled trouble-free from several Apple iOS devices, which can be synchronized via Apple iCloud.

Groups

A group comprises several devices of the same category – e.g. lamps – and enables you to monitor them centrally and control them collectively.

Scenes

A scene contains various smart home devices with states that have been predefined by you. Various scenes can be stored in the app and then activated with just one tap.

Triggers

Triggers execute scenes at specific times, when getting to rooms or locations, or when a device is in a specific state. Setting the triggers is just as simple as setting a traditional alarm clock.

Privacy Policy

Troubleshooting

Why am I not able to connect to my smart home devices?
This may have several reasons. Verify that you have an active internet connection and are on the same WiFi network and within reach of your smart home devices. Check whether the smart home devices are switched on and operational.
For remote access, check if your Apple TV is switched on and operational.

Why am I not able to create a home?
Under certain circumstances, it is only possible to create a home if Keychain is enabled in the Apple iCloud account. To enable this feature, go to the ‘Settings’ app, select ‘iCloud’ and set the ‘Keychain’ option to ‘On’.

All device, group, scene and building functions can be used free of charge. All room trigger functions for the LinkDesk Room Locator are free of charge as well. To be able to use additional location trigger and device trigger functions, you can make an in-app purchase for €5.49 / £4.99 / $4.99.
